In the main house there are over 12 rooms; the decor is in good order, including stone or marble fireplaces, large windows, high ceilings, a stone spiral staircase, and a large terrace. Within the grounds there are an array of outbuildings, including cottages, stables, barn, wood shed, and dance hall, as well as caves, underground tunnels, and a pigeon tower.

Set in a beautiful parkland setting of about 10 acres the chateau has a dry ditch, circular driveway, small woodland area, garden with ornamental trees including a 500 year old Cedar of Lebanon, pottage and orchard, all providing a plethora of opportunities for external filming.

The chateau is nestled in a small valley on the Rémillon, in the village of La Celle-Guenand. The village contains ancient half-timbered houses, a Jewry, a Museum of Tools, and the harmonious 12th century Romanesque church of Notre-Dame. There is a fishing lake too. Historic Loches is just 20 minutes away.

The domain is well positioned midway between Tours and Poitiers (approximately 1 hour from each), the chateau de La Celle-Guenand is easily reached by two international airports and a fast train from Paris via St Pierre des Corps.

Location Summary

www.chateaucelleguenand.com

Built on the ruins of a monastery, the chateau has been partially ruined and rebuilt over time and features architecture from the 15th, 17th and 19th centuries. The main building (1422) is shouldered by several towers. It is linked by a gallery (1476), held up by arches to the Chatelet with its graceful cantilevered turrets. From the remarkable to the ordinary, the architecture affords a multitude of readymade or adaptable backdrops for an array of filming purposes for everything from period dramas to contemporary music videos.
